Podcast Assignment

English Podcast

Assignment
In your group you must create an English radio show. Each person must speak for at least 4 minutes but the more you speak the better your grade. You can divide the show into individual segments or do one longer segment. This assignment is the final exam for this course and is worth 25% of your final grade depending on your class. This is divided into 2.5% for handing in the outline, 2.5% for handing in the script, and  the rest for the final podcast. You can do this as a group project with someone else in the class or alone.

Guidelines

  • The radio show should begin with a brief introduction where you introduce the name of the show (if you made a name), the group members and their topics.
  • You should choose a topic for each segment to help give your radio show a structure (see topic examples below). I will give you more information on what should be covered in each topic in class.
  • If you want to use music, sound effects, etc. you can. Think about how you will use them effectively
  • At the end of the podcast you should re-state your names and thank the audience for listening.’
  •  If any of these elements are missing your mark will go down

You can record the podcast in any way you want, I will provide one software package that you can use to record it on sangji.campigotto.com but you do not need to use this. You MUST submit the podcast by e-mail or on a USB key in MP3 format.

Important Dates

June 7  You must tell me the following information: a) Are you doing this alone or as a group project b) each person’s topic and a brief (1-2 sentence) description.
The outline is worth 2.5% of the assignment’s grade. If its complete and handed in you get perfect

(June 21st)  A rough script must be handed in. The script should include the team name, members’ names, and what they each member will say. You do not have to follow this exactly, but it should be close to what you will say in your final podcast. If you want to record your podcast earlier you can send this to me early. This is an individual step in the process.

The script is worth 2.5% of the assignment’s grade. If its complete and handed in you get perfect

After June 21st: I will give you back your corrected scripts, discuss any major issues stemming from them, and answer any questions you have about recording your podcast.

July 5th: Podcasts are due via e-mail BEFORE the end of the day on the Sunday July 5th

This is the final exam for the course if it is not handed in by Sunday Dec 9 you risk SERIOUSLY lowering your mark
